Omega Technology uses game elements and techniques in non-game contexts to motive engagement, participation and potentially drive behaviour towards predefined goals.  To this endeavour the company participates to a number of National and European Research projects where it applies gamification and game mechanics in different domains.

3D DESIGN

ASSISTED LIVING SOLUTIONS

Omega Technology, using NETVOX’s equipment and Location Algorithms have installed in Greece, in the non for profit organization ERGASTIRI (www.ergastiri.org), an innovative Real Time Location System (RTLS) based on Zigbee Pro, where 130 inhabitants and workers with light mental disabilities are 24X7 monitored indoors and outdoors for safety and behavioral analysis reasons. The RTLS solution in ERGASTIRI, covers three (3) houses and the main establishment (with classes, laboratories, offices, meeting rooms, etc). Each house consists of two main floors (199,32 meach) and a basement (84,42 m2). The main establishment where 100 individuals work consists of two (2) floors. The ground level floor is bigger (1.493,31 m2 ) while the basement is smaller (589,58 m2 ). 

LOCATION BASED SOLUTIONS

Omega Technology is currently developing its own localization and fall detection system. The project is named THESI (Position). This research has been co-financed by Greece and the European Union (European Social Funds) through the Operational Program “'Human Resources Development” of the National Strategic Framework (NSRF) 2007-2013.

ASSISTED LIVING

The I-SUPPORT project envisions the development and integration of an innovative, modular, ICT-supported service robotics system that supports and enhances frail older adults’ motion and force abilities and assists them in successfully, safely and independently completing the entire sequence of bathing tasks, such as properly washing their back, their upper parts, their lower limbs, their buttocks and groin, and to effectively use the towel for drying purposes. 

Advanced modules of cognition, sensing, context awareness and actuation will be developed and seamlessly integrated into the service robotics system to enable the robotic bathing system to adapt to the frail senior citizens population’ abilities and enable frail senior users to interact with the robotic system in a master-slave mode, thus, performing bathing activities in an intuitive and safe way. Adaptation and integration of state-of-theart, cost-effective, soft-robotic arms will provide the hardware constituents, which, together with advanced human-robot force/compliance control that will be developed within the proposed project, will form the basis for a safe physical human-robot interaction that complies with the most up-to-date safety standards. Human behavioural, sociological, safety, ethical and acceptability aspects, as well as financial factors related to the proposed service robotics system will be thoroughly investigated and evaluated so that the I-SUPPORT end result is a close-to-market prototype, applicable to realistic living settings.


 

CareV.E.T. project’s main objective is to extend the offer of high quality learning opportunities, delivering an up-to-date pioneer curriculum in the field of Supported/Assisted Living. The curriculum will address the latest’s technological advancements in the assisted living domain, as well as role playing, social networks building around people with disabilities, and self-advocacy skills that can be utilized by the supportive living operators(SLOs) to improve the beneficiaries’ wellbeing.

A toolkit will be developed, demonstrating state of the art solutions in Assisted Living (motion detection, location identification, heart rate measurements, step counting, sleep behavior, etc), that the SLOs will be able to try with beneficiaries during practical training and work based learning. CareV.E.T. is intended to be an attractive curriculum that will combine social care, ICT and wellness competencies.

MOBILE APPS

Omegatech’s platform “3DGuides” (in the framework of the ICT4Growth grants programme) is a platform for making multilingual 3D and augmented reality city guides without the need to have any knowledge about unity or Vuforia or any other SDK or Plugins. 3D guides is composed of a content management system, an authoring tool and the mobile players. A non-experience user can with drag and drop features to create in a few minutes a city guide with articles, routes, mini-games and AR content. 

VIRTUAL REALITY

Omega Technology developed its own 3D software that can simulate the installation of a RTLS network in a virtual representation of the real world. The Software helps in the decision making for the setup of  a wireless sensor network. The 3D software utilizes a modified site survey algorithm, specifically developed to suit the needs of RTLS. Furthermore, it is capable of identifying the distance between two wireless nodes and the type and size of obstacles between them (walls, furniture, reflecting surfaces) calculating their effect on the formation of the network.
